Our team at Panther Sports Medicine is passionate, professional and fully committed to providing the best quality care out there.
We believe we have a duty to stay informed and educated about the latest technology, techniques and research so that we can provide you with the best assessments and diagnosis, as well as the best treatment options in Calgary.
At the centre of our physiotherapy practice, we at Panther Sports Medicine believe that a holistic, integrated approach that incorporates a board range of treatments is the best path to recovery. Our staff use a variety of physiotherapy techniques, and will use other techniques as required.
Some of the techniques that our Panther physiotherapists are trained in include:
Range of Motion (ROM) exercises to increase or maintain flexibility and reduce stiffness.
Strengthening exercises to build up muscles that have become weak.
Soft tissue mobilization or massage to relax your tight muscles, relieve pain and reduce swelling.
Manual therapy techniques to mobilize restricted joints.
Cold therapy or cryotherapy to minimizing pain and swelling.
Heat therapy to help improve blood flow, soften tight tissues and relieve pain.
Electrical stimulation to prevent muscle atrophy and help with regaining muscle strength
TENS or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to relieve pain
Shockwave therapy to promote tissue healing, breakdown of calcification and tissue adhesions, decrease of pain and increase of function.
The other benefit of our integrated approach is that you get to access a full team of health professionals. You always have one main physiotherapist, but they may bring in other experts, acupuncturist, massage therapists or area specialists to help enhance, support and maintain your recovery. By having a variety of practitioners working under one roof we can provide a team-based and multi-disciplinary perspective on your injury.
Physiotherapy is often used in combination with other treatments such as:
Personalization is equally important in physiotherapy care. We believe that it is only by taking the time to fully understand your issue/history and do a comprehensive testing that our physiotherapists can make a proper diagnosis. A correct diagnosis is critical to choosing the right treatment options. Personalization is equally important in the development of the treatment plan. Your physiotherapist must understand you, your goals and your lifestyle so they can create a treatment plan that will work within your life and work over the long run.
Whatever your injury, pain or fitness goals, physiotherapy will often include:
Assessing and diagnosing the problem
Rehabilitating injury and the effects of the condition or disability
Increasing strength and building up muscle
Improving mobility and function
Reducing and managing pain and other negative symptoms (dizziness, headaches, etc)
Improving physical performance
Teaching patients how to do exercises at home
Providing advice for preventing further injury
In all we do, our focus is on overall health and wellbeing. Our physiotherapists put a focus on educating patients on how take care of their injury, but also provide advice on staying healthy, active and happy!
